If you’ve worked with Nichols in the past year you’re sure to have encountered our newest Sales Representative, Derek Schmitt. His years with Duo Display selling portable and modular turnkey exhibit systems gave him just the right experience to join the Nichols team, where he began to add value by finding the right trade show solutions for our customers from his very first day.

Derek grew up working in a small, family owned business – Happy Joes Pizza in Dubuque, IA – that instilled in him a strong sense of pride and ownership from an early age. It also gave him an inside perspective on small businesses, and the importance of delivering a quality product. This has translated into a desire to meet each customer’s true needs. He looks beyond just a single show or event, suggesting solutions that are scalable and can work across your entire tradeshow program.

Derek has an energetic and helpful nature, and he gets many compliments on the way he goes above and beyond to create just the right trade show solutions. Once he has helped a customer find their ideal solution, he is passionate about making it come to life, considering all of the small details with a high level of care beyond what you might expect from a traditional salesperson.

Derek’s love of meeting new people and helping others goes beyond his work. He also enjoys volunteering as a Big Brother for BBBS. He enjoys the feeling of growing together, being accountable to and for another person, and seeing the tangible difference he can make in the lives of those he serves.
